NETRIGHT, together with women's rights and feminist organisations across Africa, has issued this joint statement expressing concern over the proposed African Charter on Family, Sovereignty and Values. The statement warns that the draft Charter could undermine women's rights, gender equality, and Africa's existing human rights commitments while reversing decades of progress made through advocacy and reform. It calls on the African Union, Member States, and citizens to reject provisions that weaken human rights and to uphold the principles of equality, dignity, justice, and non-discrimination across the continent.
