The project enabled NETRIGHT to empower women’s rights organisations (WROs) to actively engage in gender-responsive policy advocacy in the agriculture sector to enhance livelihoods. The project empowered a critical mass of women’s rights organisations (WROs) and other civil society organisations (CSOs) across the middle and southern sectors of the country to interrogate agricultural policies with a gender lens as well as demand accountability and greater gender responsiveness from policy makers and local duty bearers. Participants were trained on how to lead gendered policy advocacy interventions in the agriculture sector and on the ability to use gender statistics to influence gendered policy reforms in the agriculture sector. The project also created awareness on the need for district assemblies to incorporate the Gender and Agricultural Development Strategy (GADS) II in its work and most importantly, to use the strategies in GADS II as a tool to bridge some gender gaps that exist in the agricultural sector in the districts.
