Head of Secretariat and Team Leader
Patricia Blankson Akakpo is the Head of Secretariat and Team Leader. Patricia holds a B.A in Political Science with Philosophy; MA in Development Studies with specialization in Human Resource and Employment; and Gender Studies; and a diploma in Development Leadership. In a career spanning over 30 years, Patricia’s research and advocacy interests have in the areas of gender and development issues, particularly focusing on gender and economic justice, labour, social inclusion, social change and sustainable development. Her work targets women movements, vulnerable groups, young women collectives, feminist and women’s rights organisations (FOs/WROs) and formal and informal workers.
Patricia is a feminist and a strong advocate of women’s rights and gender equality, sustainable development and social change. She serves on several committees at the national, regional and global levels. She is a member of the Steering Committee of the Women’s Manifesto Coalition (WMC) and the Affirmative Action Bill Coalition (AABill Coalition). Patricia is a member of the Advisory Board of the Centre for Gender Economics Initiative (CGE Africa) based in Nigeria, a past Co-Chair of CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE) – a global platform and currently the Global Coordinator for the CPDE Feminist Group (CPDE FG).
